What Have You Learned?

Man,  if I wrote a book it would be called  So They Called You on a Mission; Are You Ready? The thing is, looking back I don't know if I was fully ready then. But if I did not go then I would never have learned what Life, the Gospel, or God was all about.

Speaking of that it brings me to my topic:  What have you learned? Elder Williams and I both had lunch with president Wakalo. During the lunch president Wakalo asked "what have you learned?"

I thought about that  with my mission. When I end it,  or see the stake president and he asks me what I learned, what would I say or tell him? What I have learned out here is that God is a real and loving Heavenly Father. He wants us to be happy, that's why he gives us our bodies, earth, chocolate, the Gospel, Prophets, and his Son Jesus Christ. This is the Way that they talk about all the time in the scriptures. It has been brought back again and I know that is true because I can feel it and millions of others have, are, and will!

I also thought about the end when we see God again. How he might ask the the same thing- What have you learned." It might be a long answer, but it would  basically be about what happiness really is and who you are. That would be a legit day.

Well,  Elder Williams is getting transfered. So y'all will find out the new guy here is next time. In the same E-mail, same state, same Faith.
oh, and we met a guy who talks like motor mouth- more next time.

I'm standing next to brother Bill, a 30 year investigator who got baptized by a member in his branch a few weeks ago!

  1. Elder Duron,
We are so proud of you! We pray for you every day. Yesterday, I taught a lesson to the Young Women about how to become righteous mothers and wives. Of course, the lesson included the mothers of the Stripling Warriors. You are definitely a Stripling Warrior and have a mother like their mothers. The reason those boys were protected was because they obeyed their mothers teachings with exactness and did not doubt because their mothers knew. So does your mother. She and your family pray for you every day. They are such wonderful examples for the YW and YM and the rest of the Ward. We love them dearly.
I shared the following quotes with the YW and felt to do the same for you: “For nearly six thousand years, God has held you in reserve to make your appearance in the final days before the Second Coming of the Lord...God has saved for the final inning some of His strongest and most valiant children, who will help bear off the kingdom triumphantly. That is where you come in, for you are the generation that must be prepared to meet your God. In all ages prophets have looked down through the corridors of time to our day. Billions of the deceased and those yet to be born have their eyes on us. Make no mistake about it--you are a marked generation. There has never been more expected of the faithful in such a short period of time than there is of us. Never before on the face of this earth have the forces of evil and the forces of good been so well organized. Now is the great day of the devil's power. But now is also the great day of the Lord's power, with the greatest number of priesthood holders on the earth.” (President Benson, In His Steps, 14 Stake Fireside, BYU, March 4, 1979)
"God . . . reserved spirits for this dispensation who [would] have the courage and determination to face the world, and all the powers of the evil one," and who would "build up the Zion of our God, fearless of all consequences." (George Q. Cannon, Journal of Discourses, 26 vols. (London: Latter-day Saints' Book Depot, 1852-81), 11:230.)
You have definitely been saved to come at this time. There are people that you will still meet and teach on your mission and in your lifetime that you covenanted with in the Preexistence that you would bring the Gospel to them. I have no doubt that one of them was Bill that you helped to teach. Obviously, something changed in his heart. We pray for you and the people you come in contact with and teach every day.
Your mother shared how Bishop Orchard, who is the High Councilman over the youth in the Stake, that when he was Bishop, there were very few youth so they as a Ward prayed for more youth and for more missionary opportunities to bring in more youth to the Ward. He said very quickly their numbers grew a great deal and they had a number come from missionary experiences. So, we have been praying for more youth. The Sister Missionaries thanked me yesterday with tears in their eyes, for my prayers, saying they had found four families with youth last week to teach. I am going with them to help teach one of those families tonight who have two YW aged girls. I am so excited! I love being a member of this church! It is wonderful to see the people coming into the church on both sides of the veil! I love doing family history work and helping other with it as well. It is the best feeling to take the names of ancestors we have searched for, to the temple, and to do the temple work for them and feel of their great joy. I look forward to the day when I will meet them on the other side of the veil. It will be a glorious experience!
God bless you with miracles. If you are obeying mission rules with the commitment of a Stripling Warrior, you can expect miracles and great joy in your live that goes beyond understanding.
    Love,
    Sister and Brother Olsen

    1. Sorry for the typos. I should have read it over before sending it. I was in a hurry as I am at work. Hopefully you can figure out what I was saying. :)
